Dental Implants

Dental Implants….. the gold standard in tooth replacement

Regarded as being one of the most major advances in dentistry in the history of the profession, dental implants can improve the quality of life for many people who suffer from uncomfortable dentures or who would like their teeth replacing without the need to wear a denture at all.

We have been placing implants since 1987 and thus have long standing experience in the development and use of implants, being one of the first practices in the North of England to offer this treatment.

Dental implants can replace single or multiple teeth and transform your smile. It is even possible to replace a whole denture with fixed teeth on implants, improving their comfort, retention and stability, meaning no need to take your artificial teeth out again.

Mr Stubley was one of the first practitioners in the North East to offer an Implant Service in 1987. Working with like minded practitioners across the region, a study group was formed to improve knowledge and understanding of this technique. He was awarded a Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists for his post-graduate study and expertise in the subject.

In order to establish if implants are a suitable treatment for you, a consultation and thorough assesment would be required, which would normally involve taking radiographs of your jaws. In all cases an adequate quantity of bone is needed to support the implant and it is occasionally necessary to have a CT scan of the jaws produced to establish this. If there is not enough bone, all is not lost, as it is often possible to build new bone to support implants using bone augmentation techniques.

Implant treatment is unknown to most people and the unknown creates anxiety and uncertainty. Please be reassured as implant treatment can be extremely straight forward for the patient and we expect it to be perfectly comfortable both during and after treatment. A high standard of oral hygiene is required to maintain implants after treatment and our patients are helped to understand and practice this.
